Get To Know Your Family Dentist, Dr. Joshua Kim, DDS

Dr. Joshua Kim’s interest in oral health and dental care began back in high school when he would work for his mother, Dr. Sook Kim, at her dental office. He went on to attend Southern Adventist University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology in 2009. Following graduation, he worked as a missionary in Pucallpa, Peru.

The year spent in Peru was a turning point in Dr. Kim’s career, where he learned how to offer dental injections and teeth extraction techniques, and began to more deeply understand what it means to care for patients. He spent the majority of his time in Peru traveling to various regions of the Amazonian jungle to assist people who lacked access to dental care.

This experience reaffirmed Dr. Kim’s calling to dentistry, so when he returned to the states, he applied and was accepted into the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in Loma Linda, California. After graduating with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2014, Dr. Kim began working as an associate dentist in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania with a focus on providing comprehensive dental care to the community.

Over five years ago, Dr. Kim and his wife, an Atlanta native, decided to move to Atlanta to be closer to their family and raise their son, Julien. Together with his mother in the summer of 2016, Dr. Kim established Duluth Dental and Dentures to continue their mission of delivering personalized and comprehensive care to individuals in need. Most recently, they’ve opened Dentistry at Ivy Falls in Johns Creek to reach even more patients.

Dr. Kim’s favorite part of dentistry is caring for patients of all ages and building lasting relationships with them. He frequently attends continuing education courses to better serve his patients by staying up to date on the latest advancements and practices in dentistry.
